Maxine Belle
Maxine Belle Naleway is a 4th year student studying Art History & Theory, Fine Art, and Printmaking at Parsons School of Design. She is a naturally creative person who tends to think deeply, becoming passionate easily- and her passions tend to become obsessive. This obsessiveness is often expressed through her art. She is interested in interpreting science through art (particularly earth science; geology, outer space, geography, entomology, zoology, etc., and other sciences such as philosophy and psychology). Natural cycles and the influence of organic material and natural phenomena as well as the philosophy of mind are consistent themes in her work. She loves to make things with her hands, specifically practicing in printmaking, painting, and sculpture. She emphasizes texture and color in her work. She enjoys the process as much as the result, finding value and growth in her investigation of meaning in her work post-realization. She loves the insights that emerge from the creation and interpretation of abstraction. She is greatly inspired by many Artists and genres of art which she has studied such as outsider and prehistoric art. Maxine’s aesthetics tend to be (but are not exclusively) Maximalistic, she has a large personal archive.
